These editorial standards are the rules every DC Market Insights report and consulting page follows before it is published. On every page you can expect a named author, a named reviewer, a "last updated" date, stated definitions and sources you can follow, and figures that have been checked by our editor.

If you are paying for research, you are paying for numbers you can put in front of a board, an investment committee or a lender. A market figure is only useful if you know who produced it, what it measures, which year it describes and how it was checked. Without that, it is an opinion with a currency sign.

This page sets out how we answer those questions for every report and every consulting page we publish. It covers who writes and signs off our work, what each report promises, how we stay independent, which sources we use and refuse, how we use software, how we correct mistakes and how we protect confidential information.

DC Market Insights is the data center practice of Credence Research, a research and consulting firm founded in 2015 with 200+ analysts and consultants and 450+ consulting projects a year.

## Who writes and signs off our research?

Every report and consulting page is written by a named analyst and checked by a named reviewer, and nothing is published until our editor has signed it off. You can see who did the work, and you can look them up.

### Authorship

Each report and consulting page carries the name of a real analyst as author, and the name of a reviewer. The byline links to that person's block on [our team page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/), so you can see their role and the markets they cover.

Only the people who wrote and checked the work are credited. Nobody from the back office is ever credited as an author or reviewer. If a name appears on a page, that person is responsible for what the page says.

Our senior people carry specific responsibilities in this process:

- [Deepti Agrawal](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/#deepti-agrawal), Senior Editor, Research, is the final quality gate for our reports and consulting work and owns our house style.
- [Priyanka Mor](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/#priyanka-mor), Senior Consultant, is our principal methodology reviewer.
- [Amit Jain](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/#amit-jain), Senior Consultant, ICT & Emerging Technologies, heads our ICT consulting and syndicated research practice.

### The review chain

Every report passes through three people before it reaches a reader. Each one has a different job, so a mistake that one person misses has two more chances to be caught.

1. **The author** builds the market model, writes the report and records the source for every figure.
2. **A second analyst** reviews the work: the logic of the model, the definitions, the segment splits and whether the conclusions follow from the numbers.
3. **The editor, Deepti Agrawal,** checks market models, growth rates and company profiles against their sources, and checks that the page meets our house style.
4. **Sign-off.** Nothing is published without the editor's sign-off. If a figure cannot be traced to its source, it goes back to the author.

## What does every report promise?

Every report gives you the same set of basic facts, in the same places, so you can judge a figure before you use it. The table below lists what you will find.

| What you will find | Where | Why it matters |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "Last updated" date | Top of the report page, next to the byline | Shows how current the analysis is, and changes when we correct a material error |
| Base year (2025), history from 2020, forecast to 2035 | Key numbers and market charts at the top of the report | Lets you see how the market has moved before you trust where it is going |
| Currency and definitions | Report summary and the "About this report" section | Every figure is in USD, and you know exactly what is in and out of the market |
| Sources | "About this report" section and our [research methodology](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/research-methodology/) | Lets you see where each number came from |
| Author | Byline, linked to [our team page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/) | Tells you who built the model and wrote the analysis |
| Reviewer | Byline | Tells you who checked the work |

Our full approach to building market models is set out on our [research methodology](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/research-methodology/) page. You can browse the reports themselves in our [research library](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/reports/).

## How do we stay independent?

We stay independent by refusing payment for coverage and by keeping vendors and clients away from the figures we publish. Our numbers are not for sale, and nobody outside our team sees them before publication.

Three rules apply:

- **No paid coverage.** We do not accept payment for coverage, rankings or placement in our reports. A company appears in a report because it matters to that market, not because it paid.
- **No vendor-supplied copy.** Vendor and company profiles are written by our analysts from public filings, company releases and interviews. We do not publish copy supplied by the vendor.
- **No client influence on published figures.** Consulting clients do not see or influence syndicated report figures before publication. A consulting project may start from one of our published models, but the published model does not change to suit a client.

This matters most to buyers who use our reports to compare companies or size a market for an investment. If the figures could be bought, they would be worth nothing.

## Which sources do we use, and which do we refuse?

We build our figures from primary research and official records, and we do not publish figures taken from other market research publishers. Every figure we quote carries its base year and definition.

### The sources we use

We work through sources in this order of preference:

1. **Primary research:** our own interviews and our own market models.
2. **Company filings and results:** annual reports, quarterly results and regulatory filings.
3. **Official publications:** documents from governments, regulators and grid operators.
4. **Industry bodies:** data and reports from trade associations and standards bodies.

Where two sources disagree, the analyst finds out why and records the reason, rather than picking the number that suits the story.

### The sources we refuse

We do not publish figures from other market research publishers. Their numbers rest on definitions and methods we cannot check, and repeating them would put our name on work we did not do.

### How figures are quoted

A figure without context can mislead. Every figure we publish is quoted with its base year and its definition, so a reader can tell what is being measured and when.

## How do we use software and AI?

Our analysts may use software, including AI tools, to search, organise and draft. Every figure, source and claim is checked by a named person before publication, and responsibility for the page sits with its author and the editor, not with any tool.

## How do we handle corrections?

If a reader reports an error, our editor checks it, and if it is a material error we correct the page and tell the people affected. You can report an error at any time through our [contact page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/contact-us/).

The process works in four steps:

1. **Report.** A reader sends the details through our [contact page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/contact-us/): the page or report, the figure or statement, and why they think it is wrong.
2. **Check.** The editor reviews the report against our sources and model, and involves the author where needed.
3. **Correct.** If the error is material, we correct it on the page and change the "last updated" date, so readers can see the page has changed.
4. **Notify.** Buyers of an affected report receive the corrected file.

We would rather hear about an error than leave it in place. A correction is part of the work, not a failure of it.

## What is our house style?

Our house style is a short set of rules that makes every page easy to read and easy to check. It is owned by our editor and applies to reports, consulting pages and this page.

- **Short paragraphs.** One idea per paragraph.
- **Question headings, answered at once.** Each heading asks a question, and the first sentence underneath answers it.
- **Figures with context.** Every figure carries its base year and unit.
- **British-leaning spelling.** For example, "organise" and "analyse".
- **Numbers over adjectives.** We give the figure rather than call a market large or fast-growing.
- **No hype words.** We describe products and markets plainly.
- **Plain names.** Companies and products are called by their ordinary names.

Our [consulting pages](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/consulting/) describe our own services. They are service pages, not informational pages, so they carry no outside links.

## How do we treat client and interview confidentiality?

Consulting work is confidential, and interview participants are anonymised unless they agree to be named. What a client or interviewee tells us is used for the purpose it was given and nothing else.

### Client work

Consulting clients share data, plans and deal information with us. That work stays confidential. It is not published, and it does not change the figures in our syndicated reports.

### Interviews

Much of our primary research comes from interviews with people who work in the market. We anonymise every participant unless they agree to be named. This lets people speak plainly about prices, capacity and demand without putting their position at risk.

Our [privacy policy](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/privacy-policy/) explains how we handle personal information, and our [terms and conditions](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/terms-and-conditions/) set out the terms that apply to our reports and services.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can a vendor pay to be included in a report?**

No. We do not accept payment for coverage, rankings or placement in our reports. Vendor profiles are written by our analysts from public filings, company releases and interviews, not from copy the vendor supplies.

**Can I request a change to a published figure?**

You can ask us to review any figure, and you should if you think it is wrong. Send the details and your evidence through our [contact page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/contact-us/). The editor checks it against our sources and model. If the figure is materially wrong, we correct it and change the "last updated" date. We do not change figures on request without that check, and a consulting relationship does not change the outcome.

**Do you update old reports?**

Yes. Each report shows a "last updated" date, so you can see how current it is. When we correct a material error, the page is updated and buyers of the affected report receive the corrected file.

**Who do I contact about an error?**

Use our [contact page](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/contact-us/) and tell us which report or page, which figure or statement, and why you think it is wrong. Every error report is checked by our editor, [Deepti Agrawal](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/our-team/#deepti-agrawal).

**Are consulting deliverables reviewed the same way?**

Yes. Consulting work follows the same discipline as our reports: a named lead, a separate review and a final check by our editor before anything is delivered. The method for building market figures is the same, which is set out on our [research methodology](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/research-methodology/) page. You can read more about how we work with clients on our [consulting](https://www.dcmarketinsights.com/consulting/) page.
