What is a data center database?
A data center database is a structured record of data center facilities and everything that shapes them: who owns them, how much capacity they have, what is being built, the deals, the power, the prices and the risks.
Ours is built as one graph. Every facility, operator, project, deal and market has one id, so a question that crosses layers has one answer: which AI-ready sites in a market have power secured, who built them, what similar assets sold for, and how exposed they are to flood or heat.
The datasets
16 layers sit on top of the facility and operator records. Live datasets have their own page with a preview, coverage and method. The others are being built market by market and can already be delivered on request for the markets we have covered.
The live trackers it is built on
Who uses it
Insurers and underwriters
Operational MW, MW under construction, expected live dates and hazard exposure for every site of an insured company.
Investors and lenders
Pipeline, deal comps per MW, operator financials and power position for due diligence and valuation.
Equipment makers and contractors
Project leads with owner, size and timing, and who supplies which project today.
Operators and developers
Competitor footprints, capabilities, prices and land and power deals by market.
Utilities and governments
Large-load demand by state and year, rules in peer markets and the companies behind each project.
AI and cloud buyers
Sites that can host dense GPU racks now, with power and connectivity.
Send us your list
The most common request is a list: a few hundred companies or sites with the fields a team needs, such as operational MW, MW under construction and the expected live date. We match every name to the database, fill each field with a source and a date, research what is missing, and return a gap list for anything that cannot be confirmed.
- 1Send the list or the questionExcel or CSV is fine, with the fields you need.
- 2Get the quoteCoverage check, delivery date and price, usually within one business day.
- 3Receive the dataEvery value with its source, quote and date, and the gaps marked.
Tell us what you need to know. We reply with what we already hold, what we would research, and a quote.
Request a quoteHow the data is built
- Primary sources. Planning and permit portals, utility and grid filings, regulators, company filings, releases and facility pages. Never data center directories, research publishers or press-release wires.
- Quote and date on every value. The link, the exact words of the source and the date the value was true.
- Checked twice. A second, independent check against the source before anything is stored.
- History kept. Values are added, not overwritten, so every change can be traced.
Frequently asked questions
What is in the DC Market Insights data center database?
It links 2,711 data center facilities in 61 countries to 475 operators, 417 deals and the power and policy rules of 33 countries, with layers for the construction pipeline, capabilities, deal comps, prices, supply chain, demand, financials, connectivity, incidents, site risk, permits and incentives, water and energy use, vacancy and absorption, and electricity rates.
Where does the data come from?
From primary sources: planning and permit portals, utility and grid filings, regulators, company filings, releases and facility pages. Every value carries its source, a verbatim quote and the date it was true. We never copy data center directories or other research publishers.
Can you fill in data for our own list of companies or sites?
Yes. Send the list in Excel or CSV with the fields you need. We match each company and site to the database, fill every field we can with a source, and return a gap list. Ask for a quote with the list attached.
How is the data delivered?
As Excel or CSV, cut to the markets, companies and fields you need, with sources and dates for every value. Recurring updates and API access are available.
How often is the database updated?
Every day. Research lines add facilities, deals, policy, projects and capabilities one market at a time, and each value is checked a second time before it is stored. Earlier values are kept as history.
Do you publish prices for the data?
Every request is scoped to what you need, so we send a quote. Most quotes go out within one business day.
Custom data
